Sebastian Vettel returned to pole position at Hungary, beating Lewis Hamilton to pole in an intense session at the Hungaroring.
Vettel had been usurped by Red Bull team mate Mark Webber in the last two races, but there was no danger here, as the German took pole at the Hungaroring, as he did in 2010. McLaren had a good day, with Hamilton 2nd and Button 3rd. At Ferrari, there was a shock as Felipe Massa outqualified Fernando Alonso for the first time this season, and the first time in 17 races. Massa starts 4th and Alonso 5th. Webber was a disappointing sixth, and he lines up ahead of Nico Rosberg, Adrian Sutil, Michael Schumacher and Sergio Perez.
