Williams launch FW34 in Jerez

Williams have launched their 2012 car, named the FW34.

Williams have launched their 2012 car, named the FW34, in Jerez as testing begins. After a dreadful 2011, in which they scored just five points and were a very distant ninth place.

The FW34, with Maldonado and Senna
The team have replaced veteran Rubens Barrichello with Bruno Senna, who is partnering Pastor Maldonado in the car for 2012. The other main change is that Patrick head, who has been at the helm in the team, is departing. Team Principal Frank Williams said of the new season and car:  “One could say that looking at the Williams F1 Team today we are off to a truly fresh start. We have a new car, new driver line up, new engine and new senior personnel. We also have a number of new partners who have joined the team in the past few months. I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome them formally and sincerely wish that they have an enjoyable and, most importantly, a valuable experience with us. The team has had a good winter at the factory and we feel ready and strong for the fight.”

The team are also making one other change - from Cosworth to Renault engines, meaning a return to the Williams-Renault days. The team will be hoping they can now bring back the Williams-Renault glory days after a horrendous 2011.
